Salman Khan finds a new friend in ‘Zanjeer’ remake actor Ram Charan Teja

It’s better to be Salman Khan’s friend than foe, and most from the industry will agree to it. The superstar recently made a move to befriend South starRam Charan Teja, who is in Mumbai shooting for Zanjeer remake. Well, doesn’t it pay well to be on Bhai’s good books?

A parcel of home-made biryani was sent to Ram Charan Teja on the sets of his film by Salman, and that’s how the friendship between the two started. “Since Ram is shooting in Mumbai now, Salman has decided that they should catch up as often as possible,” a source is quoted as saying. Salman usually gives biryani treat to his friends.

Ram Charan Teja also got invited to Salman Khan’s house for dinner last week. The two actors did gel well, and going by Sallu’s track record we are sure that the actor must have some fitness tips up his sleeve for the new entrant.

Bollywood is never sweet to the newcomers, most of them have to go through the grind. In that case, Salman’s growing fondness for Ram Charan Teja will only help him to cope with pressure in Bollywood. Moreover, the actor has stepped into the mighty shoes of Amitabh Bachchan in theZanjeer remake.

The insiders reveal that Salman and the Bachchans may not see eye-to-eye, but Sallu’s fondness for the new Vijay (Ram Charan Teja) has set tongues wagging in the industry.

Yaaron ka yar! Recently when Salman heard that Preity Zinta’s debut production Ishkq In Paris is stuck for some technical reasons, he offered to play a cameo to add his star value to the project. Preity is happy with the progress of her film now.

Titanic II to set sail in 2016 from England to New York

An Australian billionaire said on Monday he'll build a high-tech replica of the Titanic at a Chinese shipyard and its maiden voyage in late 2016 will be from England to New York, just like its namesake planned.

Weeks after the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the original Titanic, Clive Palmer announced Monday he has signed a memorandum of understanding with state-owned Chinese company CSC Jinling Shipyard to build the Titanic II.

"It will be every bit as luxurious as the original Titanic, but... will have state-of-the-art 21st-century technology and the latest navigation and safety systems," Palmer said in a statement. He called the project "a tribute to the spirit of the men and women who worked on the original Titanic."

More than 1,500 people died after the Titanic hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic on its first voyage. It was the world's largest and most luxurious ocean liner at the time.

Palmer built a fortune on real estate on Australia's Gold Coast tourist strip before becoming a coal mining magnate. BRW magazine reported he was Australia's fifth-richest person last year with more than 5 billion Australian dollars (USD 5.2 billion).

Palmer said at a news conference that previous attempts to build a Titanic replica failed because proponents failed to raise enough money and commission a shipyard. The Titanic II is the first of four luxury cruise ships Palmer has commissioned CSC Jinling Shipyard to build.

Palmer did not provide a cost estimate. He said he had established a new shipping company, Blue Star Line Pty. Ltd., and that design work for the Titanic II has begun with assistance from a historical research team.

The diesel-powered ship will have four smoke stacks like the coal-powered original, but they will be purely decorative.

The most obvious changes from the original Titanic would be below the water line, including welding rather than rivets, a bulbous bow for greater fuel efficiency and enlarged rudder and bow thrusters for increased maneuverability, Palmer said.

Brett Jardine, general manager for Australia and New Zealand in the industry group International Cruise Council, said Titanic II would be small by modern standards but could prove viable at the top end of the luxury market.

"From a marketing point of view, many will embrace it and perhaps there'll be some that wouldn't," Jardine said.

"If you've got a niche, it's going to work. Why go out there and try to compete with the mass market products that are out there now?" he added.

While the Titanic II would carry around 1,680 passengers, most modern cruise ships create economies of scale by catering for more than 2,000 passengers, he said.

Among the world's largest passenger ships, Allure of the Seas is 90 meters (295 feet) longer than the 270-meter (886-foot) Titanic and has 2,700 cabins.

Rihanna turns bad for 'Fast and Furious 6'

Singer Rihanna has reportedly bagged a villainous role in the sixth installment of The Fast and Furious franchise.

"Rihanna impressed with her acting debut in Battleship. Writers think she'll be perfect for the role. Her character has plenty of bite and doesn't take any prisoners - just like her in real life.

It's a step up the ladder for her and could lead to bigger action roles," thesun.co.uk quoted a source as saying.

The singer will drive supercars with the likes of Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a. The Rock, as the series continues its world tour of exotic locations.

The movie is set in London, with filming expected to start as early as next month. The singer will also be heading to Essex for the first time as racing scenes will be shot in Southend.

Akshay Kumar offers three films to Nargis Fakhri

Now that his erstwhile lucky mascot Katrina Kaif has moved on to signing films with Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar seems to have found new imported inspiration in Nargis Fakhri.

The industry is abuzz with talk of how Akshay's home banner, Hari Om Entertainment, has offered a three- film deal to Nargis, who was not getting any new projects despite a debut in the hit Rockstar, opposite Ranbir Kapoor in 2011.

Nargis has, of course, lapped up the deal. The first film of the deal where she will star opposite Akshay is Khiladi 786, is scheduled to release later this year. The action comedy incidentally unites Akshay with Himesh Reshammiya on screen for the first time.

"Akshay had initially planned to cast Telugu superstar Ileana D'Cruz opposite himself in Khiladi 786. However, he has finalised Nargis now. Two more films will follow. Akshay will probably star in both these projects opposite Nargis," an industry source said.
According to sources, Ileana lost Akshay's confidence because her presence in Anurag Basu's Barfee has failed to create much hype. Barfee, slated to release on July 13, will mark Ileana's Bollywood debut but the film has been more in the news for its lead stars, Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.
Half-Czech, half-Pakistani model Nargis had a dream debut in 2011 when Imtiaz Ali cast her opposite Ranbir in his musical drama, Rockstar

The pre- release hype about the film gathered ground with rumours of Ranbir's affair with Nargis on the sets of the film. Although Rockstar became a hit, critics and the public alike gushed only about Ranbir, besides A. R. Rahman's music in the film.

Nargis was unanimously panned for her wooden performance, which in turn resulted in no roles coming her way for the past few months.

Things are looking brighter now with the three-film deal of course, but Nargis refuses to talk about it. "Akshay Kumar would be the ideal person to speak on the deal," was all she said, when we tried to get her reaction.
Incidentally, Akshay seems to be in the mood to sign multiple films with the same actress these days.

He has three films lined up with Sonakshi Sinha- Rowdy Rathore, Joker and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2. "Sonakshi has a very Indian image while Nargis makes a westernised statement on screen. Akshay probably wants to juggle the contrasting images when it comes to the heroine cast opposite him in his forthcoming films," a source said.

Akshay has been reeling under a spate of duds after his golden run opposite Katrina with hits such as Namaste London, Welcome and Singh Is Kinng, before their last release together, Tees Maar Khan, flopped in 2010. He will probably hope to revive a similar hit streak with Nargis.

Mahesh Bhatt's daughter Alia may play Ranbir's girl

Mahesh Bhatt's daughter, Alia Bhatt, who's all set to make her debut with Karan Johar's Student of the Year (SOTY), is likely to be seen in Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyap's next.

Abhinav has been on the lookout for a leading lady for his untitled project opposite Ranbir Kapoor. And since the actor has been churning out one hit after the other of late, there has been a lot of speculation on who will play his lead in the movie.

The grapevine now suggests that Mahesh's younger daughter, Alia, may be the lucky one.

Kashyap reportedly wants to cast a fresh face and Alia fits the bill perfectly.

However, neither Alia nor Abhinav has confirmed the reports.

At the moment, the entire cast and crew of SOTY is in Bangkok, shooting for the final schedule of the movie.

Now, Ekta Kapoor in front of the camera

After becoming a successful producer, Ekta Kapoor faces the camera for the first time for her media school.

The 36-year-old has shot an audio-visual film to promote her media school - Institute of Creative Excellence.

"I want to assist in grooming young aspirants from every part of the country and provide them with specialized and modern technical expertise. I see so many newcomers and most of them have no idea about the craft, I wish to hone their talent," she said in a statement.

"ICE will facilitate a stage where anybody with passion and determination can come, and start setting up the foundation to make their own dreams come true," Ekta said.

The institute provides industry related courses and aims to bridge the gap between demand and supply of professionals. It has trained over 700 students in the last two years.

Kim dismisses nude pictures scandal

A representative for Kim Kardashian has dismissed rumours that reality star is embroiled in a nude pictures scandal, insisting the woman in the leaked photos is not the socialite.

"It's not her. You can totally tell. It looks nothing like her," dailystar.co.uk quoted Kim's spokesperson as saying.

Photos showing a dark-haired woman standing in a kitchen naked and reports suggested that the photo was an old shot of Kardashian.

A number of stars, including Scarlett Johansson and Mila Kunis, have previously been a victim of hackers, who have stolen personal photographs and posted them online.

Finally! Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt get engaged

After seven years as a couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are finally engaged.

Pitt's manager, Cynthia Pett-Dante, confirmed the news to The Associated Press in an email on Friday.

There isn't a wedding date yet. The engagement "is a promise for the future," Pett-Dante said.
Pitt, 48, and Jolie, 36, have six children together, including three who are adopted.
"Their kids are very happy," Pett-Dante also said.
Pitt and Jolie have been partners since they began a relationship while working on the film Mr & Mrs Smith.

Jolie was briefly married to Billy Bob Thornton, but they divorced in 2003. She was also married to British actor Jonny Lee Miller before they divorced in 1999.

Pitt was previously married to Jennifer Aniston, but they divorced in 2005 after five years of marriage.

Jolie won an Oscar for her role in 1999's Girl, Interrupted. Pitt was recently nominated for an Academy Award for his role in last year's Moneyball.

I'd surely like to do a film with Rekha again, says Amitabh Bachchan

Ever since Rekha has been nominated for the Rajya Sabha seat, speculations are rife as to how Amitabh Bachchan would react to the news. Especially as those who know Rekha closely were surprised with the fact that she accepted the offer to be a Parliamentarian.

The reason being, Rekha is known to detest politics. In her biography, it was clearly mentioned that she abhorred politics so much so that at one point in time, she even stopped subscribing to any newspaper.

So, recently when Amitabh was promoting Ram Gopal Varma's Department, he was asked if he was comfortable working with Rekha and whether the two would be seen together in a film anytime soon.

"Why not? Well, if someone comes to me with a good script, and I like it, I'd surely do a film with her," Amitabh replied promptly.

It seems all the daring filmmakers who wish to offer something new to the audience can think on the lines of bringing the two actors together on screen.

There are reports that Rekha is coming out of her self imposed exile. She will be seen in Parliament as a Rajya Sabha member and in the mid-year, she will also be seen judging the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa.

Meanwhile Amitabh Bachchan's new avatar in Department is getting rave reviews. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Rana Daggubati in lead roles.

Recession landed Parineeti Chopra in Bollywood

Parineeti Chopra was one good thing that happened to Bollywood, thanks to recession. The year was 2009, Parineeti had just obtained a management degree from the Manchester Business School, UK, but the lull in economy meant there were no jobs for a budding investment banker in the West.

She returned to Mumbai and started working as a publicist in the PR and marketing division of Yash Raj Films.

Priyanka Chopra's cousin, who is slowly coming out of that tag, insists that not in her wildest dreams did she imagine the turnaround that was to follow.

"I never thought that my short stay in Mumbai would take me to a different world and I would end up in films. That too as a lead actor," she lets on excitedly, barely stopping to breathe in between, immediately reminding you of her award-winning debut act as the motormouth Delhi girl Dimple Chaddha in last year's Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl

"Everybody recognises me as Dimple now and I too identify with the character as it is an extension of me. It was a small role but people tell me I looked natural on screen. In real life, I am very much like Dimple," she says.

Of course, she is in a hurry to avoid being caught in an image trap. The three-film deal that an impressed Aditya Chopra offered to Parineeti will see her second release,

, opening in a few weeks from now. Her character, Zoya, a small-town Muslim girl in Uttar Pradesh, will be a marked departure from Dimple. The Habib Faisal-directed film casts her opposite Boney Kapoor's son Arjun

So does the bloodline connection help? "Of course it does. It is definitely easy for the people with film connections or a prominent film surname to get a break. But that's the only advantage. The road beyond this is rough and one has to walk the extra mile," she says. "I had to audition separately for the roles of Dimple and Zoya, although both the films were produced under the same banner. There were several rounds of screen tests, costume trials and tests to check dialogue delivery that I had to pass," she adds.

Cousin Priyanka is her guiding angel, she says. "She is always there to guide me. When I took up acting, the first advice she gave me was, 'never get affected by either praise or criticism'.

Parineeti rebuffs any suggestion of a brewing sibling rivalry, given her meteoric rise. "The gap between me and her in terms of stardom and standing in Bollywood is far too big for any rivalry. Moreover, in personal lives we are very close, so that translates everywhere," she adds.

Is Priyanka her ultimate inspiration, then? Now comes the shocker. "I am inspired by Rani Mukerji. She is the most talented actress in Indian cinema right now. Rani is unique on screen and oozes spontaneity in all the roles she plays," Parineeti says. We don't know about Priyanka but YRF boss Aditya Chopra should be mighty pleased with Parineeti's choice.

Titanic 3D: Why should you watch it?

TITANIC

Titanic in 3D is a fictional account of the maiden voyage of RMS Titanic and the shipwreck sinking, during April 1912.

The film commemorates the 100-year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. The 3D version of the film will be released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Winslet's kids not interested in 3D Titanic - Read Story
The Titanic 3D stereoscopic version was created under the guidance of the original film's director, James Cameron. He said in October 2011 that the 1997 Titanic would also be re-released in digital 2D and in 2D IMAX versions struck from the new 4K master created in the process.

In 2009, Cameron released the 3D film Avatar, which had been purposely designed for 3D viewing. Titanic in 3D was generated by re-mastering the original film as 4K resolution and post-converting to 3D (3-dimensional) stereoscopic format. The Titanic 3D version took 60 weeks and $18 million to produce, including the 4K restoration.

Although fans are excited to watch the the movie, theatre owners and distributors doubt if it will able to pull in the crowds.

Amit Shah, programming head of DT cinemas, says the fact that the movie is releasing just a day before Akshay Kumar-starrer "Housefull 2" hits the screens, might affect the footfall.

The original "Titanic", released in 1997, won 11 Oscars, grossed $1.843-billion worldwide. It made around Rs.500 million (nearly $1 million) in India alone.

Interestingly, audiences have another reason to look forward to the film as the censor board has refrained from using its scissors on the sensational scene in which actor Leonardo DiCaprio sketches a nude Kate Winslet.

The movie, which narrates the love story between socialite Rose Bukater and commoner Jack Dawson on board the Titanic, has been passed without any cuts and has received a clear U/A censor rating by the censors in India.

The 3D version will also prove to be a treat for all those who missed "Titanic" on the big screen 15 years back.

The 3D version of Titanic premiered in London, England, on March 27, 2012. In attendance were the director, James Cameron, and the lead actress, Kate Winslet, at the Royal Albert Hall in Kensington, West London.

Rihanna would love to play Whitney Houston

Rihanna

Singer Rihanna says she would love to portray Whitney Houston in a biopic because she was inspired by the late singer when she was younger.

"My first song that I remember falling in love with was a Whitney Houston song, 'I will always love you'. It was really inspiring, and it made me develop a passion for music, so really she's partly responsible for me being here in this industry," contactmusic.com quoted Rihanna as saying.

"That would be something that I would have to give my entire life to do, because I would really want to pull it off. That's a huge, huge role and whoever does it has to do a good job," she added.

She says she could do a comedy movie.

"I want to try different roles - maybe a comedy next, or who knows? I like sarcastic, dry humour. I love movies like
Superbad and Pineapple Express, pretty much all of Seth Rogen's movies," she said.
